Bellevue
Art Museum provides a new experience of visiting museums. Contrary
to traditional art museums which are often enclosed and intimidating,
this museum is open , inviting and it seeks to engage the community.
Apart from having three galleries which exhibits mainly local works
and supporting administration space, it also houses a forum, theater,
art school, artist's studio, cafe and bookstore.
To
convey the active image of the museum and the presence of various
functions to the public, different elements in the program are expressed
as different volumes on the exterior through the use of different
materials and colors of the enclosing surfaces. They would each
have their own identity, and people would be aware of the various
offerings of this museum.
